Enrolling Fingerprints on Alpeta
On the Basic tab in the employee’s record, you will click on Modify to select the type of authentication.
A pop-up box with the different selections will appear. All employee’s are loaded with PW (password) on bulk import, however, this must be removed and the correct authentication type must be selected.
First, you will drag and drop the PW selection back into the Auth Type box.
Next you will drag and drop the FP selection into the OR Auth box and click Apply.
*Note: OR refers to employee’s being able to use multiple ways to transact. AND refers to using both ways to transact, like with Card AND Finger.
Once the authentication type has been selected, you will click on Auth tab to enrol the fingerprints.
At Auth Level, you will select the number 9.
9 is the highest quality a fingerprint can be enrolled on, it picks up more minutia in the fingerprint making the likelihood of failed transactions less, especially in industries where employees work with their hands quite a lot.
You will then click Edit next to FP Data.
Click on Hamster to enable the V-FOH02 fingerprint enrolment device.
*Note: When the device is successfully connected, it will flash white and then a red light while display.
Select the finger you wish to enroll by clicking on the square above the finger, in this example, the index finger on the right hand is selected. You will then click on Fingerprint Regist.
The fingerprint device will flash a white light to say it’s ready to enrol.
The employee will place their finger on the sensor to record one image, as shown below and then lift it up and place the same finger down in the same way.
When the fingerprints successfully match, you will click on Register.
Move to the next fingers and hands.
When the fingerprint has been successfully read twice, and registered. The screen will go back to the finger selection page and the dot above the finger is now blue to indicate it's been loaded.
Once you have successfully registered a minimum of 2 fingers per hand, you will click Apply.
When completed with enrolling, you will click on Save to update the employee’s biometric data.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is imperative, that the stored fingerprint on the UNIS system is done properly, and the users ensure that the fingers are captured properly, and not rushed through
Employees should not rush through enrolments
- Users must make sure that the employee places the full core of their finger on the enrolment scanner. It should fill up as much of the scan template as possible.
- It is always recommended to set the enrolment level to highest level 9. This allows for UNIS to store the most detailed fingerprint templates on the system, and allows for best read rate on the biometric readers
- If enrolments are poor, the user should at that time make the employee wash their hands and re-enrol them.
Poor scans may be because of:
- Dry fingers
- Wet fingers
- Wrinkly fingers
- Dirty fingers
- Where employees have skin issues like flaky skin, weak fingerprints, callouses or no fingerprints.
