Finding the Employee
To search for an employee click Find,
You can search for the employee's name or employee code:
To search for the name - type employee name (or part thereof) and click Find.
Ensure that the Find Option has Name selected

To search for the employee code - type employee code (or part thereof) and click Find.
Ensure that the Find Option has Employee ID selected
Once you have found your employee, double click on the employee's name to open the user profile.
In the user's profile, you will add the Fingerprint biometrics.
Tick the box next to Fingerprint, in Authentication type
Click on Enroll. The pop up box will need to be actioned - click Next twice.
Select the finger you wish to enroll by clicking on the grey circle above the finger, in this example, the index finger on the right hand is selected which is indicated with a pink dot.
The enrollment device will now flash a white light to let the user know it's ready for enrolling.
Place the finger on the sensor of the device. For the best result, place the top third of the finger firmly and evenly down on the sensor.
The users should be able to see any issues during the enrolment process, as UNIS will show the quality percentage at the time of enrolment.
- The higher the percentage, the better. Lower percentages (Less than 75%) then the user should assist the employee to improve their template scan
- When the image is grey - fingers are dry
- When the image is dark blue - fingers are wet.
When the fingerprint has been successfully read twice, it will automatically save. The screen will go back to the finger selection page and the dot above the finger is now green to indicate it's been loaded.
Once you have loaded a minimum of 2 fingers on each hand, you will click Next and then Finish
Click Add or Modify when ready to save user details.
Once you have loaded employee biometrics, you may need to send to terminal. Here is the link - "How To" Send Employees to Terminals - UNIS
PLEASE NOTE:
It is imperative, that the stored fingerprint on the UNIS system is done properly, and the users ensure that the fingers are captured properly, and not rushed through
- Employee should not rush through enrolments
- Users must make sure that the employee places the full core of their finger on the enrolment scanner. - it should fill up as much of the scan template as possible.
- It is always recommended to set the enrolment level to highest level 9. This allows for UNIS to store the most detailed fingerprint templates on the system, and allows for best read rate on the biometric readers
- If enrolments are poor, the user should at that time make the employee wash their hands, and re enroll them. Poor scans may be because of;
- Dry fingers
- Wet fingers
- Wrinkly fingers
- Dirty fingers
- Where employees have skin issues like flaky skin, weak fingerprints, callouses or no fingerprints.
